About elk ivory
When I picked up my first piece of elk ivory over 18 years ago, my goal was to design and create elk ivory jewelry in a new and distinctive style. This style differs from other jewelry designers by utilizing the ENTIRE ivory. This amazing material remains a passion of mine and because of its properties the ivories really are stunning when worn as jewelry. I find now that this is what gives me such great joy in creating this distinctive line of elk ivory jewelry. Since a pair of ivories from the same animal are never identical each piece of ivory must be shaped, sized and balanced individually to create a pair of earrings. Only then, can the final carving and stone cutting be done. Because this increases the degree of difficulty when producing this type of three dimensional design, you need to allow six to eight weeks for earrings and four to six weeks for pendants and rings.
Note: I do not endorse the killing of any animals for jewelry purposes. It is unlawful to kill elk for the sole purpose of extrcting their ivories.
